What is this:

If you wish you can place this shock on your pages and everytime somebody surfs by and types in ( like you did just now) his/her name it`s "remebered", so next time this person re/loads your pages he/she gets personal kind of a greeting:-)

Ain`t that nice? Just try, type in your name and reload this page.

To get rid of your "name", go to plug-ins folder of your browser, open dir-shockwave folder and there open Prefs folder. See  greeter.txt  file? Trash it and next time you load this page you`ll get 1st welcome message.

Now, technical stuff:

Download greeter shock and the sample greeting text:
  • greeter.sb (rename it to "greeter.dcr" by changing the extension to ".dcr")
  • greeting.txt (be sure to put it in the same directory as greeter.dcr)

    You can copy the source below to your page.

    There is one more thing, you can also customize the greeting message.
    You can create your own greeting text or use the one that`s included.

    Just type your greeting message in any word processor according to the order of lines (no html tags), like that:

    - I don`t think we`ve met before.. Sooo, what`s your name?
    - My name? Hmm, well, it is

    and save it as plain text file with name greeting.txt and then upload it to the same directory as greeter shock.
    Just keep in mind that you can`t make your greeting too long - it won`t fit in.
