Spinning Arrows

Are you at all tired of animated GIFS that deliver 3-4 FPS animation speeds (and are hardly interactive)?

Each of the above arrows is a 3K Shockwave file. If you want to stop the spinning, click either arrow. If you want to change the speed and direction of the spin, click the arrow and hold the mouse button down while you drag upwards or downwards.

One interesting side effect of the way the Lingo (Macromedia's programming language) is written is the following: whenever these two arrows are lined up horizontally on the page, you control the spin of both by clicking and moving a single arrow. Note that this is not the case when arrows are one above the other, only when they are horizontally aligned.

There are links below to download these spinning arrows with either a white or a black background for seamless placement of these on pages with those background colors.

Please note that, because of some current limitations of Shockwave, it is dangerous to place more than one instance of a specific animation on a page. The result (even if you did some file re-naming) would probably be broken icons rather than functioning animations. In other words, it is OK to place one instance each of the left-facing green, blue and red arrows on a page. And you can even place three right-facing arrows (one of each color) on the page with them. You simply may not place more than one instance of exactly the same arrow on the same page.
