Floating through a colorful Universe! This simple animation will be a visual delight to folks visiting your Web Pages.

@dver@ctive's "Star Field" Shockwave Animation is less than 4k in size (right at 4000 bytes) in order to appear on a web page very quickly.

This is One of Five versions of our "Star Field" that are available for download from this site. They differ from each other in only one respect - where we randomly place the Planets (larger bodies) so that the natural movement of the mouse around a screen will bring some planets into view.

As you move your mouse around the screen, please try several things:

• Move your mouse very slowly -- this will simply pan your view of the star field quite naturally.
• Move your mouse rapidly - this leaves a trail of stars behind each individual star. The trails will clear up after you bring your mouse to a halt. In fact, try moving your mouse in a fast circular motion and you'll find that you can fill the star field with colorful dots.
• Get a planet or two in the view pane (and remember where they are), then move your mouse to the view pane and click, then get the planet(s) back - the planets will have changed colors. This adds to the effect of an ever-changing universe as your viewers click and navigate their way around your page.

We have intentionally designed these Shockwave Animation to be quite wide (on the horizontal ones) or quite tall (on the verticals). Our idea here is that the star field should stretch all the way across (or down) a viewer's monitor (no matter their display resolution) to give a feeling of endless space. If anyone needs a star field of particular dimensions (or their logo in place of a planet, etc.), please contact us as we would enjoy designing a special made-to-order one for you.

The actual dimensions of the vertical star fields are 32 Pixels Wide by 600 Pixels Tall while the horizontal ones are 800 Pixels Wide by 32 Pixels Tall.
